Privacy Notice
Seattle Central Community is an unofficial, student-run project — not affiliated with Seattle Central College. This page explains what data the app keeps and why, in plain language.
Where your data lives
Your account and everything you post (posts, comments, likes, transfer stories, professor reviews, and your Course work plan) are stored in a secure online database run by Supabase. Your study timer, class schedule, saved stories, and settings are saved to your account too, so they follow you when you log in on another phone or computer.
What we ask for, and why
- Email: used only to sign you in. Please use your school email (@seattlecolleges.edu). It is never shown to other students.
- Nickname: shown only to you, on your own My Page. It is never shown on your posts or comments.
- Password: used to sign you back in. It is handled by Supabase's sign-in system, and we never see it.
What's public vs. private
- Anonymous: posts, comments, transfer stories, and professor reviews never show your name, nickname, or email. In comments, people appear as "Anonymous 1", "Anonymous 2", or "Author".
- Who can read posts: signed-in students can read everything. Guests (people who are not signed in) can read some recent posts, stories, and reviews.
- Course work plans are shown to signed-in students, without your name.
- Private to you only: your study timer, class schedule, saved stories, and notification settings. These are never shown to anyone else.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers. This app has no ads and no third-party trackers.
- We don't show your real name, nickname, or email to other students.
- We don't hand data to Seattle Central College's administration as a matter of course. Reported content may be reviewed by student moderators, as described in the community guidelines.
Removing your data
You can delete your own posts, comments, and Course work plan at any time in the app. To delete your whole account and everything linked to it, contact the site owner and we will remove it.
This is a small, evolving student project, not a legal document drafted by counsel. If something here seems wrong or you have a specific concern, please treat this as a best-effort explanation rather than a binding agreement.
